Privacy Policy for Nyblit

Last Updated: 5/3/26

Privacy is something I care about personally, and I want to give you a transparent overview of my approach to privacy. Part of the reason I developed Nyblit for Apple products is because I believe this is something Apple really gets right, and I want to make an app people can trust and feel safe using.

1. Introduction

Nyblit ("we," "our," or "the App") is designed to prioritise your privacy. We believe your tasks and plans are your own business. This policy outlines how your data is handled.

2. Data Collection and Storage

Nyblit does not create user accounts, and we do not store your task data on our own servers.

Your Data: All tasks, lists, and associated metadata created in Nyblit are stored locally on your device and synchronised via your personal Apple iCloud account.

Access: We (the developers of Nyblit) have no access to your task data, your iCloud login credentials, or your personal identity.

3. Third-Party Services

iCloud

Nyblit uses Apple's iCloud services to sync and back up your data across devices and to facilitate sharing tasks securely with other users you choose to share with. By using Nyblit, you are also subject to Apple's iCloud Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for data loss caused by iCloud sync errors or outages.

Gmail Integration (Optional)

Nyblit offers an optional Gmail integration that lets you manage your email alongside your tasks. You can attach Gmail conversations to tasks, reply to emails, draft new messages, edit drafts, and delete emails — all without leaving the app. If you choose to connect your Gmail account:

Authentication: You sign in using Google's secure OAuth process. Nyblit never sees or stores your Gmail password.

What We Access: Nyblit accesses your Gmail messages, including subject lines, senders, recipients, and the full content of email threads. This access is necessary to display your conversations within tasks, allow you to reply and draft messages, and provide full email management within the app.

How Nyby Uses Your Email: If you use the Nyby AI assistant, Nyby can read email threads attached to your tasks to better understand the context of what you are working on. Nyby can also draft email replies on your behalf. When this happens, the content of those emails is sent to OpenAI's API under the same terms described in the Nyby section below. Email content is only sent to OpenAI when you actively use Nyby — it is never sent automatically in the background.

Storage: Your emails remain in your Gmail account. Nyblit does not copy or store your email content on any server we control. Any task data you create from emails is stored locally on your device and synced via iCloud, just like all other Nyblit data.

Revocation: You can disconnect your Gmail account from Nyblit at any time in the app settings or by revoking access in your Google Account permissions. Disconnecting removes Nyblit's ability to access your Gmail immediately.

Google API Disclosure: Nyblit's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Nyby — AI Task Assistant (Optional)

Nyblit includes an optional AI-powered assistant called Nyby, designed to help you prioritise and manage your tasks. Nyby is powered by OpenAI's API.

Opt-In Only: Nyby is entirely optional. No data is sent to OpenAI unless you choose to activate and use Nyby.

What Is Shared: When you use Nyby, relevant task data and personal context you have provided (such as your personal profile and life events) is sent to OpenAI's API so that Nyby can give you personalised, useful advice. This may include task names, statuses, deadlines, project names, and any profile information you have entered. If you have connected Gmail and ask Nyby to help with an email, the content of the relevant email thread is also sent to OpenAI so that Nyby can read it for context or draft a reply on your behalf.

How OpenAI Handles Your Data: Your data is sent to OpenAI via their API, which operates under OpenAI's API Data Usage Policy. Under this policy, data submitted through the API is not used to train OpenAI's models and is retained for a maximum of 30 days for abuse monitoring purposes only. No human being at OpenAI reviews your data as part of normal operation.

No Storage by Us: We do not store your conversations with Nyby on any server we control. The exchange happens directly between your device and OpenAI's API.

Deactivation: You can stop using Nyby at any time. Once deactivated, no further data is sent to OpenAI.

Google Firebase Analytics

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features in Nyblit are being used and how we can improve the app.

Anonymous and Aggregate: We have explicitly disabled the collection of the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) and the Identifier for Vendors (IDFV). We do not collect any device identifiers or personal information through Firebase.

What We See: Aggregate, anonymous data such as which features are used most frequently, how often certain screens are visited, and general usage patterns. For example, we might learn that "42% of sessions used the status wheel" — but we have no way of knowing who those users are.

What We Don't See: We cannot identify individual users, track your activity across other apps, or link any analytics data back to you personally.

Opt-Out: You can disable analytics in the app settings at any time.

Advertising Attribution

SKAdNetwork: We use Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. This system allows us to know that an ad led to an install without revealing your identity or device details to us. This data is processed anonymously and cannot be used to identify you personally or track your activity across other apps and websites.

Firebase Install Attribution: We also use Firebase to confirm whether an ad successfully resulted in an install. The person who installed the app remains completely anonymous.

4. Mailing List & Communications

Unlike your app data, which is anonymous, our mailing list requires personal information to function.

Voluntary Sign-Up: We only collect your email address (and optional name) if you explicitly choose to sign up for our newsletter / tutorial updates via our website or the app settings.

Purpose: We use this data solely to send you product updates, release notes, and tips for getting the most out of Nyblit.

Management: We use a secure third-party provider (Wix) to manage our email lists. We will never sell, trade, or rent your email address to anyone else.

Control: You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send.

5. Direct Contact & Support

If you email us for support, to report a bug, or to offer feedback, we will naturally have access to your email address, name, and the content of your message.

Storage: We keep these emails in our secure inbox to resolve your issue and maintain a history of our conversation.

Usage: We use this information strictly to provide support. We do not add support email addresses to our marketing mailing list unless you specifically ask us to.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to anyone.

When you choose to use optional features that involve third-party services, data is shared only as described in this policy:

OpenAI receives task data, profile data, and — if you use Nyby with Gmail — email content, only when you actively use Nyby, and only to generate responses for you. This data is not used to train their models.

Google receives anonymous analytics data through Firebase. If you connect Gmail, Nyblit accesses your email content to provide email management within the app. Your emails remain stored in your Gmail account and are not copied to any server we control.

Apple receives anonymous analytics and crash data through App Analytics and SKAdNetwork.

No data is shared for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond what is described above.

7. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

As a UK-based app, Nyblit complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation. You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.

Rectify any inaccurate data.

Erase your data (right to be forgotten).

Object to or restrict processing of your data.

Withdraw consent for any optional feature at any time (by deactivating Nyby, disconnecting Gmail, disabling analytics, or unsubscribing from emails).

Because we do not create user accounts and most data is stored only on your device and in your personal iCloud account, exercising most of these rights is as simple as deleting the app or the relevant data within it. For any request you cannot resolve yourself, please contact us.
